The beauty of Nature

Once in a while I love doing random posts. This is just one of those random posts where me and my camera and my love for nature entwined!:)I’m a nature lover..nothing gives me peace of mind and inspires me like relaxing at the beach and just watching the waves and motions, or a road trip and enjoying the vast plains and the beauty that God gives us through his wonderful creations..so here are a few pictures that I’ve taken while trying to sharpen my photography skills..hope you enjoy them as much as I loved taking photos of them with my Pentax Optio S12 camera(but do I say)Enough talking..enjoy the photos..

The lovely relaxing shores of Diani Beach

I’m in love with sepia, clean white Sandy Beaches of my fave happy place, Diani of course

I am a sucker for sunsets. Note to future husband reading this, you better propose to me while out overlooking the sunset,as we gaze to its beautiful rays, sitting in a lovely beach like this sunset I captured in Malindi..

There’s something about palm trees that I just love..don’t know what but I just love them:)

Again I can never get enough of the clean sandy beaches in Diani..this time in colour

Or the ever amazing view of Kikambala Beach

Enough beach pictures. Like I said, I love taking road trips, and my fave place, apart from Diani of course, is Kericho, the babymaking cool weather, the green landscape always makes me feel like running wild.. This is one pic I just had to get out of the car and take in Kericho

You know me and sunsets..once again, the beautiful sunset I captured in Obama land also knows as my shagz:)

The vast plains of Nyahururu(I love doing road trips clearly)

Dont go chasing waterfalls. I learned the hard way what that means when I literally went chasing after Thompson Falls in Nyahururu

Those are just but a few of the nature pictures I’ve taken in my many sojourns. It’s so ironic while I was writing this post, Michael Jackson’s Earth song was playing in the background..What about sunrise?
What about rain?
What about all the things?
That you said we were to gain?

Nature is beautiful, take time to enjoy it once in a while..

Peace and Blessings always, Vionna

Kikambala Beach

Life is like a wave motion. We sit on life’s shores waiting to receive the waves and the motions. That is one epiphany I came up with once while sitting at the beach, just staring into nothingness. The beach has always been one of my gateway, release therapy when I’m down or going through some problems in my life. I don’t know what it is about the sand, the waves, the breeze, it just takes me to that tranquil place, like nothing else matters (and that’s why I love going to the Coast so much) Anway back to Kikambala Beach. I promised to do a post on this a while back, but somehow I lost my blog mojo and what not haven’t been blogging much lately. On my vacation to the Sun and Sand resort last month, I decided to do something different. No boat rides, no snorkeling just walk as deep as I could near the reef. I wasn’t trying to pull a Jesus by walking on water stunt, don’t get me wrong. I’m an eco-friendly enthusiast, in fact I’m thinking of going back to Uni and doing eco-tourism\studies , if I was abroad I’m sure I would have joined an eco terrorist group somewhere.Just kidding CIA don’t hold me in contempt;-)Back to my beach escapades and ahem not the over 18 beach after dark escapades here. Diani and Watamu have the cleanest beaches you would ever see, so I wasn’t keen on walking much along Kikambala Beach, but I was tired of lazing around the pool, salivating and stealing glances with some Italian Marine men at the resort, I decided to take a long walk along the beach. One of the beach boys kept bugging me about taking me for a walk till we reached the reef, deep into the waters for a fee of course. I decided what the heck, life’s short to be so uptight, let me live a little. So I asked one of the guards at Sun and Sand to keep his eye on me, incase the beachboy tried anything silly. I had a very short skirt on, and wasn’t too comfortable walking for an hour or so deep into the sea with this beachboy but I saw a few tourists ahead so I knew I was safe. I got rubber sandals for the walk ,I refused to buy the ones they told me they were selling and wore mine. Boy did I learn the lesson the hard way..but that is a story for later on. Kikambala beach is not so clean as such, and the tide was very far off,so the first few minutes of walking down I was regretting why I agreed to this on the first place. But I kept on going, I was about to walk till where you see that ka white line..;)

we weren’t even far off before we started meeting the little sea urchins and the red ones too look so cute as lethal as they are
The beach had amazing sea creatures..let me just post a few fishes and corals that i got to see along the way
saw the lovely of zebra fishes, and cute starfish too and this dude who has a sea kiosk in the middle of the beach, selling shells just made my dayi had walked this far off from the shore, and that’s when this terrible little creature decided to bite me leg and well i got all the R Kelly I was peed on jokes to last me a lifetime, but if i wasnt peed on the sting, would have caused damage to me wonderful legs;)maybe that’s why this beach boy had a big grin on his face but i do not regret the walk at all.I got to appreciate God’s wonderful creations firsthand, sure I came back with swollen feet, rashes all over my thighs thanks to stings from a Jelly fish, but it was one of those bucket list moments I fulfilled for myself and seeing the clean blue waves of the start of the deep-sea was just so relaxingso the next time you happen to be in Kikambala,or any beach for that moment..enjoy every minute of the waves, the crush and the motion..nothing like it
Peace and Blessings,Vionna

Sun N Sands

Hey beautiful people!!!It’s been a minute, back from vacation all fresh and relaxed, and thought I would share with you some of my sojourn escapades=)

So on Friday,my close friend and I,decided to travel down to the Coast to enjoy some sand and relaxation. We both needed it,and Makena,I know you are reading this, all I can say is,I love you like a fat kid loves cake;-)Anyway enough shout outs, back to matters at hand..Sun N Sands..

Located in the Coast of Mombasa,Kikambala to be exact,Sun N Sands beach resort is one of those places you go to and you automatically feel relaxed,it has an amazing landscape. The plush palm trees shaped like rainbows, the beautiful lawns, just have an amazing serene feel to them..<
So we checked in on Saturday afternoon, the ever so friendly guards welcomed us with a nice warm greeting, that just made us feel at home.I must say,of all the hotels I've been to,Sun N Sand, have the best customer service I've ever come across..from the cooks,to the receptionists,to the cleaners,to the fitness instructors, superb customer service!Anyway, you know I always keep it real, having an eye for design,I must say SNS need to revamp their decor..give it a bit of an oomph of sorts..the rooms didn't cut it for me…
They were a bit to blergh! It didn’t give me that cosy feel as such
Especially this Tetris thingy like on the wall…They just need to do a little bit of decor, but aside from that, the place is more than amazing…The Lamu bar being one of my fave bars at SnS The pools, well what can I say, bellisimo! You have a variety of pools to choose from.we were spoilt for choice I tell you..The water aerobics was really fun,at least you don’t become lazy when you’re vacationing like some of us tend to be
For now I wont do so much talking..let me upload a few more pictures of the lovely place for you to see..Sigh this place is just lovely, innit? And the beautiful view of the beach….
SnS has a crazy but in a good way fitness instructor..though he overworked me much during our stay..
And their gym needs a little bit of sprucing up a bit to..didn’t see any treadmill here..
If you plan on going down there with kids, yet you still want to have a good time, not to worry, they have a lovely crèche there for your little ones to enjoy tooAnd in any case you happen to be there and forget your bikini like me*covers head in shame*not to worry, they have a nice boutique that’s fairly cheap for a 5 Star hotel, you can get nice ones there
All in all Sun N Sands is officially one of my fave Beach Resorts in the Coast,I had the time of my life there..Their food was more than tantalizing..especially their waffles!yum yum!!!!The live band music after dinner, played some lovely tunes..Jeremy the sweet bartender at Msafiri Bar,can make you some serious cocktails, just make sure you know the way to your room well after your done drinking his cocktails..The resort will be closing down sadly for a few months from May,to make way for some renovations, and better facilities and suites come November..so if you can go on holiday, before then,go ahead and enjoy Sun N Sands..you sure wont regret the dent on your wallet(but the rates are pretty fair not to worry)I more than enjoyed the stay there with my munchkin, and best friend(I know you are reading this.you rock gal!)I will do a post soon on Kikambala Beach,so you better watch this space..till then from a very cool, calm, relaxed and contented blogger,Peace and Blessings,Vionna;-)

Malindi/Watamu

So as i continue with my sojourns around our beautiful country, and Mombasa to be specific,my travels escapades took me to one little Italian city also known as Malindi. But before that,we made a detour to one of the most romantic places a few km away from Malindi.Watamu is one of the most serene, romantic perfect honeymoon places you’d ever visit..the beaches are clean, the cottages are just so damn beautiful..
so we made a trip down the Watamu Marine Park..went snorkeling and deep-sea diving..this lil town gives my love for Diani serious compe:-)the place holds special memories for me,and not to forget Fatuma’s sandals shop is the best place you could ever get sandals here..moving along..we reached Malindi, greeted by tuktuks as usual..this town is always so full of Italians,i call it the Sin City of North Coast..well Mtwapa takes the cake for that, but Malindi is like a lil Vegas of some sorts..the kids here are just too naughty, this little boys made me blush well I’ve never really gotten the time to visit Vasco Da Gama, most of the time I’m always having ice cream at Mauricio’s..the icecream there is just orgasmic..sigh Italians really know how to make good ice cream, pasta, pizza and ahem many more things*insert naughty wink here*Don’t think Malindi is all relaxation, for all you who love House/Trance music like I do,do make a point of clubbing at Star Dust the music there is amazing, and the ambience is just classy..well if you think of vacationing in Malindi some time soon, hope my lii tit bits helped..excuse me as i capture the lovely sunset here in Malindi Beach

Diani Mi Amor…

Life is like a wave motion..Full of highs and lows.We sit on life’s shores with our hands open waiting to receive..

See,that is what Diani does to me.. whenever i sit on the white sandy beaches of Diani,it’s like reality is just me and the beach then, serenity, tranquility, i can’t explain it..Diani always holds a special place in my heart, and you know what they say;home is where the heart is..for me Diani is my second home..Diani is one of those peaceful places you’d ever visit in the South of Coast, the people are amazing, the beaches are clean,no hustle and bustle that comes from the polluted air in Nairobi..Just peace and quiet..
The ride through the ferry is always comical to Diani…but the traffic can really annoy you at times…it takes you an Hour to get to Ukunda…i will do a later post on Tiwi, but Tiwi is just before Diani..a very relaxing place too…Well when you get to Diani always remember to pass by Forty Thieves
The view from the Beach there is always breathtaking..and not forgetting Forty Thieves has the best Karaoke on Tuesdays anywhere..and you can’t convince me otherwise Nairobi…and Ali Barbour for me is the best cave restaurant i have ever dined in…love the whole Pirate ambience to it…it’s just amazing..Diani is a tad bit quiet..but Ushago always has some nice tunes playing for those of you who want some noisy quiet nights there..Flamboyant restaurant well what can i say, bellisimo is the word!i could go on and on about Diani and I’m sure i will soon, but for now if your headed there..have fun and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with the place..i found love in Diani, and i fell in love with Diani..i hope y’all do too:-)
Peace and Blessings,Vionna
